How to Volunteer
Could you befriend someone who feels lonely? If you are a good listener, understanding, sensitive and can spare as little as 1 hour per week to make a new friend and ease feelings of isolation by having a cup of tea and a chat, then we would love to hear from you.
Our volunteer process is fairly simple.
- Fill out the application form online. If preferred, I can send one via the post.
- Once in receipt of references, I will be in touch to organise a meeting to verify your DBS and complete your Induction. (This should take approx. 1hr, DBS is FREE)
- When your DBS certificate arrives, give me a call and I will meet you to record the number from the certificate and check everything has been cleared.
- Finally, I match you with a client that lives locally to you, who has similar interests/hobbies or personality traits. (Very important as this promotes a positive start to a long and happy friendship.)
Before you are matched with a client, certain details will be shared to help you decide if this is the right person for you. I will introduce you to the client on the first visit and then it’s over to you. Times and dates are totally flexible to suit both parties.
Continued support will be given throughout your volunteering role, alongside annual ‘get togethers’, and relevant courses being offered to those interested.
